Byte-Sized OnDemand PD

What is it?

Launched in Spring of 2019, CCPS Byte-Sized OnDemand PD, is an online, professional development source.  Sessions are developed by district instructional technology resource teachers (ITRTs), by teachers that have successfully integrated technology into their classrooms, and members of the CCPS Innovation Committee. 

These Byte-Sized OnDemand PD options are focused solely on one topic or tool. They are slated to run 1-5 hours depending on the assignments chosen to complete. For example, you can choose to complete only option 1 and that will take 1 hour. If you choose to complete option 1 and the project, that will equate to 5 hours. The project component is completely optional.

How does it work?

All Byte-Sized OnDemand PD Sessions will be housed within one (1) Google Classroom (join code: j2yymi). 

1. Start by joining this Google Classroom.

2. Simply select the topic from the "Topic" list on the left that you wish to learn about. 

3. Then, to complete a session, you simply follow the instructions and complete the task. 

4. When the task is complete, you submit your artifact via the instructions in Google Classroom. 

A division ITRT will be in touch to let you know your submission has been received and recertification points have been earned.

What are the benefits?

Recertification points will be gained directly corresponding to the amount of coursework completed.  Every session will have an initial option that will be worth 1 hour and a bonus activity that can add 4 hours if chosen to complete.  The bonus activity is completely optional, one must only complete the initial option to receive 1 hour of credit. If chosen, the bonus activity must be completed in full to receive the 4 recertification hours.

As with our full length OnDemand PD Courses, teachers have the option of scheduling co-planning, co-teaching, and/or ITRT observation of a lesson or lessons taught with technology integrated with feedback.  This component adds 5 recertification points to those earned for completing OnDemand PD.  In total, a completed Byte-Sized Session with ITRT co-planning, co-teaching, and/or ITRT observation of a lesson or lessons taught with technology integrated with feedback will earn 5 recertification points.

The online nature of the courses makes them accessible from anywhere with an internet connection and anytime that works for the learner.  Reach out for help at any time from your school's ITRT or Innovation Committee members.
