Pursuant to its policy FFA-CCPS-R, the Clarke County School Board is seeking input from the public regarding a committee recommendation to name the original Swan Avenue entrance and interior vestibule at the former Clarke County High School (now Johnson-Williams Middle School) after Mary Patricia Reynolds. As a member of the class of 1965, Ms. Reynolds was the first African-American graduate of Clarke County High School. At the time of her attendance, the high school was housed in what is now Johnson-Williams Middle School. Input should be emailed to Superintendent Rick Catlett (catlettr@clarke.k12.va.us) or Board Chair Monica Singh-Smith (singhsmithm@clarke.k12.va.us) by 5:00 pm on Friday, December 15, 2023. The School Board anticipates taking action on the committee’s recommendation at its meeting on December 18, 2023.
